"May I always be subordinate to thee,
be dependant upon thee,
be found in the path where thou dost walk,
and where thy Spirit moves,
take heed of estrangement from thee,
of becoming insensible to thy love...
Let thy love draw me nearer to thyself..." || The Valley of Vision
Today was a warm and sunny, gold-paint-on-the-fingernails, bridal-shower-for-my-friend-Kate kind of day. Between my mother and I, we won all the games at the shower [didn't quite seem fair, but we couldn't help it...honest!]... I'll openly admit to my serious aversion of bridal/baby shower games. I pretty much detest them all, unless they are completely original. The only one I kind-of like is the "how well do you know the bride and/or groom," and then only because each couple and story is unique, making the game somewhat interesting and new each time. :) But that's just me...
I've also been reading "A Man Worth Waiting For || How to Avoid a Bozo," by Jackie Kendall. I'm half way through it, and it's been so good. I've heard most of it many times before in other books, but it's been such a fresh and timely reminder for me to wait and choose--not settle, and that good men do exist, other than those already married...or dead. :)
The bedroom and books looked even nicer in morning light... I made a simple inspiration board [to follow] for a bedroom redecoration. Someday. :)
"Indeed, I count everything as loss because of
the surpassing worth of
knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things
and count them as rubbish,
in order that I may gain Christ
and be found in him,
not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law,
but that which comes through faith in Christ,
the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
that I may know him and the power of his resurrection,
and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death..."

"My God,
Thou hast helped me to see...
that nothing is good but thee,
that I am near good when I am near thee,
that to be like thee is a glorious thing:
This is my magnet, my attraction." || The Valley of Vision
Today was like summer, nearly 50 degrees. :) I gave sewing lessons for a couple of hours this afternoon... and organized the pantry shelves... and baked smores-cookies in the toaster-oven [because our conventional oven finally kicked the bucket]... and re-arranged my bedroom... and wore a pretty flower in my hair [and realized while looking at this picture that I have a very definitive bald triangle on my forehead, ha! I knew there was a reason I always parted my hair the other direction!]. While re-arranging my room I unpacked several boxes of books that I had packed up when I moved back to Pennsylvania from Indianapolis...I had forgotten just how many books I owned. :) And how much I love each one of them...

"Thus will my heart be a prepared dwelling for my God...
Make me meet, through repentance,
for thine indwelling.
Nothing exceeds thy power,
Nothing is too great for thee to do,
Nothing too good for thee to give.
Infinite is thy might, boundless thy love,
limitless thy grace, glorious thy saving name...
I ask great things of a great God." || The Valley of Vision
This morning Stefanie left for Tennessee for a few weeks...until her soldier-husband returns from the Middle East and they move to North Carolina again together. It was Little House on the Prairie marathon this morning while I was watching the kiddos... Sophia noticed the latte I was slowly sipping and kept telling me how much she looooved coffee too. So I offered her a taste, and the next thing I knew she had finished my entire steaming cup of coffee for me. Thanks, sweetheart. I didn't really need it anyway. :)
And the always-amazing Anthropologie catalog arrived in the mail this morning to carry me away in it's pages...
